In November 2013, ECP sold Red Oak to The Carlyle Group.

ECP acquired the 830 MW Red Oak power plant in Sayreville, New Jersey from a subsidiary of The AES Corporation in April 2012. Red Oak uses proven low heat rate Siemens 501F technology, which has a long track record of reliability in power plants across the U.S.

Red Oak sold power under a long-term contract.
